    Yvonne Innes

    Dr. Yvonne attended the University of Guelph to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (and as a bonus to meet her husband) and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1998. She has always been surrounded with a household full of pets since she was a kid, and she decided by the age of 5 years old that she was going to become a veterinarian. Yvonne has worked at a variety of small animal practices in southwestern Ontario throughout her career. She thoroughly enjoys interacting with clients and patients in the exam rooms and her special interests are internal medicine, preventative health, and nutrition. You will quickly notice that Yvonne’s casual rapport and fun sense of humor are usually pretty contagious. Yvonne shares her home with her husband, 4 kids, 2 dogs, a guinea pig and a zebra finch. She enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, being a taxi and spectator at all her kids sports and activities, and any extra free specks of time you will find her doing something active outdoors, preferably at the beach!

    Jared Louw

    Dr. Jared Louw was born in South Africa and immigrated to Canada in 1999. He will happily tell you that he has been a proud Canadian ever since! Jared obtained a bachelor degree in biomedical sciences at the University of Guelph, and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2017. In his spare time, he enjoys catching up on TV shows and movies, spending time with his three cats, studying martial arts, and if weather permits spending time outdoors. His love of animals in all forms is readily apparent, but his main veterinary focus is dogs and cats, with some experience with exotics/pocket pets, wildlife, and poultry.

  • Denise Jack
    Registered Veterinary Technician and Practice Manager

    Denise’s life-long passion for animals and nature has resulted in her working in the veterinary profession since 1989.  She became a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in 1992, and has been working in small animal and exotic practices in both London and Toronto as both an RVT and Practice Manager. She has since moved to Newbury and couldn’t be happier! She shares her home life with several creatures including; dogs, cats, reptiles, fish, chickens, goats and occasionally wildlife who find themselves in need of a temporary helping hand. When not working she enjoys photography, mountain biking, snowshoeing, hiking and anything having to do with the outdoors.

    Hospital Administrator

    Amy was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, and moved to St. Thomas with Dr. Raj Bhatia in August of 2009. She completed her Bachelor of Science honours degree at the University of Guelph in Animal Biology in December of 2007. She has always loved being around animals and educating clients on how they can best take care of their additional family members. Amy loves all the nature and walking areas that the region has to offer. She also enjoys riding her horse, Ralley; walking her dogs, Darla and Sydney; and watching movies.

    Assistant Office Manager

    Before moving to Ontario from Vancouver in 2005, Sarah was a Veterinary Assistant for 15 years and I still truly love what I do! I live in St. Thomas with my son Finnley and my furkidlet golden retriever cross Payton. I enjoy gardening, cooking and anything creative and crafty.

  • Rebecca Laemers
    Registered Veterinary Technician

    Rebecca has lived in St. Thomas her whole life, but plans to live out in the country with all of her pets. She currently lives with her two Boxers, Keya and Asia, as well as a cockapoo named Griffen and new addition, Hydro, a tuxedo kitten. She graduated from St. Clair College in May of 2016 from the veterinary technician program. Rebecca enjoys hiking and playing paintball in her spare time.

  • Aileen Zylstra
    Registered Veterinary Technician

    Aileen is a Registered Veterinary Technician at West Lorne Animal Hospital. She has been employed at our sister clinic in St. Thomas since the summer of 2001 and thoroughly enjoys her job! She has had a love for animals since childhood while growing up on a farm. She has had many experiences with animals and loves helping them out! She shares her time with her husband, Greg; their 4 children and 2 dogs, Bentley and Maggie. Her interests include playing baseball, camping, reading and enjoying time spent with friends and family 

  • Celine Desnoyers
    Registered Veterinary Technician

    Celine spent most of her formative years growing up in Northern Ontario and has been working in the veterinary profession since the age of 15. In 2013, she graduated from the University of Guelph with a B.Sc. in Biomedical Science. Celine then returned to the world of academia graduating as an RVT from Northern College in the spring of 2017. When she’s not busy caring for patients at our hospital, Celine can be found going for long walks with her best buddy Dexter, a handsome Golden Retriever or spending time at home with her hearing-impaired kitty named Edison.

  • Krista Kirkland
    Registered Veterinary Technician

    Krista has been working in the veterinary profession since 2007 and as an RVT since 2014. Originally from Guelph Ontario, she moved to Elgin county in August of 2014. Krista earned her B.Sc.H in Biological sciences from the University of Guelph as she originally wanted to be a veterinarian. She then enrolled in the alternative RVT program from Thompson Rivers University in B.C. and LOVED the RVT role. In September on 2016 she started schooling at Fanshaw College to become a Dental Hygienist and really enjoys the mix of working with animals and people.  In the future Krista plans to work both as an RVT and a Registered Dental Hygienist.  She views her RVT career as her ‘fun job’ and can be found spending her spare time  with her three dogs, four cats and two rabbits.

  • Heidi Flavien
    Veterinary Office Administrator

    Heidi has been working at West Lorne Animal Hospital since the beginning of 2019, and she knows it's where she's meant to be. She has always had a genuine love for ALL animals, ESPECIALLY chickens! She says they are feather covered baby raptors. Heidi's chickens names are; Charming, Kessel, Ace, Perch, Nessie, Mamma Mere, Tim Bit, Swiss, Mozza + 18 more who are patiently awaiting to be named. Heidi has a cat named Nala, who is a beautiful long haired princess. Heidi has been married for 2 years to her best friend Michael who is originally from the island of St. Lucia. Heidi loves Jesus, swimming in the ocean, playing soccer, and eating avocados. Heidi does NOT like potatoes.

  • Agnes Docherty
    Registered Veterinary Technician

    Agnes has been involved in animal care for a number of years through helping out on her grandparents' farm, volunteering at a wildlife rehabilitation center, and working in veterinary clinics. Growing up, there was never anything else she wanted to do. She has always had a love for animals and even as a young child knew it was her dream to help them. Agnes graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Ridgetown College in May, 2019 and became a fully registered technician shortly after. Now, Agnes is the proud mama of a sassy cat that she rescued as a kitten, and a sweet little beagle who also graduated from Ridgetown College. In her spare time, she loves reading, spending time with family, and playing video games with her fiancé.

  • Abigail Lewinsky
    Veterinary Office Administrator/ Veterinary Assistant

    Since she was a child, Abigail knew that she was destined to have a career working with animals. Growing up, she always had a pet in the house or in the barn. Whether they have fur, scales, or feathers- she loves them all the same. In May of 2019, Abigail graduated from the Ridgetown College Veterinary Office Administration program, later getting certified as a Veterinary Assistant. In her time at the clinic, the West Lorne Animal Hospital has proven to be a family atmosphere, and she knows it’s where she’s meant to be. She currently shares her home with her bunny Caramel, her dog Paisley, her feathered friend Bella, along with two leopard geckos-Lindi and Gieco. In her spare time, she enjoys going for nature walks with her camera, helping out on the farm, and spending time with her family and friends
